About the Programme

The Employability scheme aims to provide support to enhance the education, training and employment needs for care experienced young people. This scheme has been designed to support each participant to develop their individual pathway and builds in ongoing review as they move towards decisions regarding their chosen sector and target the sector-specific qualifications that help to prepare them for work.

‘I have been focusing on mentoring and I find my own experience helps me with the young people. No-one knows people as well as young people. It’s challenging but it’s a good challenge. It challenges my mindset as well – it’s very interesting.’ – Service user

The programme is designed to include industry and employer specific essential skills support to ensure a person gets dedicated essential skills support directly linked to their employment aspirations.

In addition, the Employability Service offers workplace tours, job tasting/sampling, work placements and Belfast Trust ring-fenced employment opportunities.
